April 8th Deer Pictures

Even though the bucks are still early in their antler growth the deer still provide some good moments. Since we have hundreds of pictures to choose from it isn't very hard to find a few pictures that we find interesting. The other critters that show up also give us some material for these pages each week as well, but this week we have stuck with deer and turkeys.

I didn't notice the deer with white feet at the mineral lick this week but I did get pictures of them in one of our food plots. It's interesting because this food plot is about a half mile from the mineral lick that I saw them at the last two weeks. That is one of the things I like about being able to identify individual deer, I can watch their movements throughout the year.

Four of the pictures below show deer that sure seem to be reacting to the camera. The debate rages on about whether or not a white flash spooks deer, but it is obvious that the deer notice the cameras and I've not found evidence that they spook them to any great extent.

These pictures were taken with our Trail Watcher 2035, homemade WhitetailCam P41, Reconyx RC55 and Trail Watcher 2040.

Curious Deer
I've seen my wife look at me like this over her reading glasses. I would guess that this young buck is looking at the Camtrakker trail camera that is one the same tree just under this one. Reconyx RC55

Deer standing up.
This deer sure is stretched out. I'm not sure what they would be fighting over in this barren food plot. Homemade WhitetailCam P41

Older whitetail buck
Although identification is difficult I would say that this is one of our older bucks. Trail Watcher 2035

Sunrise gobbler
An early morning turkey gobbler. Trail Watcher 2035

Whitetail doe
It looks like she heard the shutter open on the camera and just about turned herself around looking for it. Trail Watcher 2040

Camera Licking deer
It looks like this camera came close to being licked. Trail Watcher 2040
