Arrow Rest Selection

One of the most critical factors in good arrow flight is the performance of your arrow rest. If your vanes touch any part of your rest the accuracy will suffer, especially with broadheads. Fortunately there are many good arrow rests on the market today.

The first arrow rests that I used were the shoot around or flipper style. Fletching contact is a given with these arrow rests and I had a difficult time achieving good arrow flight. The experts say that feather fletching will work well with these rests but I like the durability of plastic vanes.

After reading a glowing article about a Bodoodle arrow rest I purchased one and have been very pleased with it. It is called a Timberdoodle and is designed more for a finger shooter but has worked real well for me shooting with a release. If I were going to purchase a new release today I would take a serious look at Bodoodle again and either purchase another Timberdoodle if I wanted to keep my vanes in the traditional pattern or the Game Dropper if I wanted to rotate my nock and have one fin straight down. The Game Dropper is also a drop away rest and is designed more for a release shooter and will let you rotate your bow more without the arrow falling off.

I have heard good things about the Whisker Biscuit rests. I have also heard that they can be hard on your arrow fletching and this has been confirmed through personal contact. You may want to do the majority of your practice shooting with old arrows, unless you want to replace the fletching on your hunting arrows.

My son and I are both using Whisker Biscuit rests on our bows. You can see what we think of this rest here.

You can shop for the Bodoodle Game Dropper and Timberdoodle as well as the Whisker Biscuit arrow rests here at Cabelas.
