Cuddeback Capture Picture Quality

I have given the Cuddeback Capture a C for picture quality. The Capture takes OK pictures but they do not measure up to the best and the quality is slightly lower than the B grade cameras.

The picture quality is not as good as Cuddeback's Expert model or the Moultrie 200.

The problems we have noticed include a lack of flash at dawn and dusk on occassion, wash out in close flash pictures, a slight yellow halo in flash pictures and a lower color quality as compared to the better cameras.

A lack of flash at dawn and dusk seems to be a common problem. This is a shame since deer move a lot during dawn and dusk. The good side is that this occurs on relatively few pictures. These pictures are samples of this problem.

These pictures are examples of the flash washing out close deer. This is also a common problem with some of the lower quality trail cameras.

These two pictures also show a yellow halo that we are seeing in the flash pictures.

The following pictures are examples of the good pictures taken with the Capture. In general most of the pictures look similar to these.

Our final thoughts on the Capture picture quality are that it isn’t real bad, but it doesn’t meet the good quality that I would like to see. I guess I would call the picture quality useable.
