February 5th Whitetail Deer Pictures

This album of Whitetail Deer Pictures contains digital scouting camera pictures taken in the weeks before February 5, 2005. This is the first set of pictures that did not include an antlered buck. It is now very difficult trying to pick our the bucks. The snow has made for some real pretty picture and it was very cold during this last two week period.

This set of pictures were all taken during snowy and very cold weather. It's interesting to see how the snow starts to pile up on the backs of deer. It looks like both of the deer whose heads you can see are bucks who have shed their antlers.

We caught this deer with it's tongue out. I have heard that the deer believe that if you can catch a snowflake on their tongue, the feeder will spin.

I get a kick out of the pictures that show a deer lying near the feeders. Notice on the picture that it is after 3PM. The feeder should be spinning in a while, but he was not still lying there in the next picture.

Take a look at this deer looking up at the feeder. We have moved the feeders to tripods. I wonder if they sometimes wonder where the corn comes from.

Now that the bucks have lost their antlers, it has become hard to identify them. It looks to me like this is a buck. It has that blocky look in the shoulders.

This buck gave us a good enough look that you can see where his antlers were. It is going to be interesting to see when they start growing again. It sure will make it a whole lot easier to identify them.
