Keep Your Feet Warm and Dry

My first hunting boots were those green rubber boots with the thin (very thin) felt layer. My feet were cold before I got to where I was going.

Innovations in boots have made it much easier to stay in your stand longer than 20 or 30 years ago. Currently I have a pair of boots with Gore-Tex and 800 grams of Thinsulate. These boots allow me to stay in my stand longer than years gone by. My toes still start to get a little cold after a couple of hours or so when it is below 20 degrees, but the capability for easy walking and adequate warmth is a big plus for me. A little toe wiggling or a deer sighting can usually warm them back up. The Gore-Tex makes them waterproof which is a big plus.

When the weather is warm I wear a lighter pair of boots. The insulation is not as important but you can't give up the waterproof capabilities.

If the temperatures get bitter cold, they even make booties called Arctic Shield Boot Insulators that you can put on over your boots while you are setting in your treestand.

Many hunters like to wear rubber boots in an effort to keep from leaving scent as they walk to their stands. Many innovations have been made in rubber boots as well for both comfort and warmth.

The manufacturers have made great strides over the years in making hunting boots that are warm, dry and comfortable.
