Kester Long, Age 12, 2011 Youth Day Hunt, Virginia

My nephew, Kester, age 12, and I went hunting for youth day today! It was a day we will never forget. 10 points 22 1/2 inches inside, almost 25 inches outside and weighed 220 lbs. The heaviest deer LBHC has ever gotten by far. Love you Kester and CONGRATS!! Glad I could be a part of it. BTW, he passed up 5 smaller bucks and 2 does because we knew this one was using the area and it paid off!! -Teddy Long (Facebook)

This particular buck had been growing those antlers since May. Roasted soybeans and mineral supplements really helped out. We were testing the soybeans for the first time and say a huge difference in the mass of the racks on the bucks in the area. Our club Laurel Branch Hunt Club in Lunenburg, Va has been doing a Deer management program with the help of VDGIF's DMAP program and over the last 7 years have seen amazing results.
