May 5th Whitetail Deer Photos

We traveled to our hunting property on this Saturday in May to plant food plots but the weather didn't cooperate. On the other hand the weather seldom keeps us from our digital trail cameras and that was the case this week although the cameras had only been out for four days.

In only four days we didn't capture hundreds of pictures and once again we didn't catch any bobcats or coyotes prowling this week. The activity has also been slow at the food plots but we think this will pick up soon. We did start to see a lot more activity at our mineral licks so we'll probably be watching them more over the coming weeks with our cameras.

We also have a feeder with a dead timer battery, which has caused light activity at one of the feeders. Unfortunately we didn't realize this until after we had left so we won't get to fix this problem until our next visit. Once we get the batteries changed the activity at this feeder will once again pick up.

These pictures were taken with our Camtrakker Digital Ranger and homemade WhitetailCam S40.

Young whitetail buck

Here is a young buck. He is at a mineral lick that is at the edge of a freshly planted food plot.

Turkey Gobbler fanned out

This is a nice close-up of a gobbler.

Whitetail buck

This is another young buck. You can see that his fuzzy velvet antlers are a little longer than those on the buck above.

Turkey hiding its head

Here is a gobbler hiding his head. I guess he's camera shy.

Licking whitetail deer

The last set of pictures we showed a deer sticking its toungue out at us and this one is even laying its ears back.

Wound on a whitetail deer

This young buck has a wound on its upper shoulder. Zooming in revealed that the wound looks fresh. It's hard to tell what might have happened to this deer, you could let your imagination run wild.
