November 22nd Deer Season Journal

The day started in the 20's again with a crunchy frost on the ground.

I started my day at the oldhouse where I had started the feeder up again the day before. Last night it didn't spin before dark so I wanted to see if it would spin after daylight. It didn't.

There was a deer in the food plot when I arrived and about a half hour later a doe and fawn came up to the plot. They didn't stick around long after seeing the blind but it was just nice to get to see a deer.

Later in the morning I headed past the whippoorwill food plot to take a look in the deeper woods and see what was happening. I did see one buck that was laying on a flat near the hollow. He saw me when I saw him and he left after watching me for a couple of minutes. He looked like a small eight or six point.

I spent the afternoon looking over the hill near the oldhouse and then waited for dark at the feeder again hoping it would start working properly. Once again, it didn't. I also did not have any visitors.

I headed back to the house where I rescued the feeder spinner from the famed bucket feeder from last winter. While carrying it to the house I saw a doe standing in the hayfield. A closer look revealed a four point buck just behind her who had not yet entered the hayfield. He didn't like me looking at him through binoculars and headed back over the hill.

Tim hunted all day and saw few deer and no bucks. Ryan spent the evening playing with a few does. He tried every call including the varmint call.

It was another beautiful day although deer sightings are limited so far this week and we've yet to see any of the larger bucks we had pictures of.
