Ohio Nine Point

(Southern, Ohio)

Ohio 9 Pointer

Ohio 9 Pointer

This is one I didn't let "walk"

My buddy and I hunt approximately 200 acres of private land. We hunt no further than 5 "crow" miles from where the world record "Beatty Buck" was taken several years ago.

As discussed in the "management" section of this site, we too had an oversupply of does and shot for "horns", no matter what the size of the buck.

We are a bit older and a lot more patient. With a very liberal doe permit quota in Ohio, we strive to each take two does every season and our "shooter" standards are 8 point minimum and outside the ears.

Since putting these restrictions on ourselves about 6 yrs ago, we have started to see more and more shooters each year. We have also been planting small food plots and doing supplemental feeding in the winter.

If you want to see bigger racks where you hunt....... control the does, consider supplemental feeding, and let the 2.5 year old bucks "walk" on by.

PS......... You can see my buddies buck from last year on Tim's Ohio Ten Pointer on another page.
